Hazel Byrd Harris

HARRIS, HAZEL Hazel Byrd Harris, age 90, of Waco died Monday, August 27, 2001 at a local nursing home. Services will be 11:00AM Saturday, September 1st at Western Heights Baptist Church with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00PM at Mart Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 4:00-6:00PM Friday, August 31st at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Harris was born in Bardwell, TX November 3, 1910. She attended schools in Mart and Baylor and Sul Ross Universities. She married Raymond A. Harris June 13, 1932 in Mart, TX. He preceded her in death in 1997 after 65 years of married life. She was a homemaker and elementary school teacher, active in Baptist Home and Foreign Missions. In their retirement years they served on two mission trips to Africa. She was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church. She was well known for her hospitality and cooking. Survivors include: Daughters: Ramona Arterburn of Waco Averil Bradford and husband, Bill of Big Spring Son: Dr. Loyd Lee Harris and wife, Chita of San Antonio Sister: Dorothy Hanks of Clovis, NM Five grandchildren Five great grandchildren Pallbearers will be grandsons.
