Helen Joyce Rogers

August 9, 1941 — February 24, 2014

Helen Joyce Rogers August 9, 1941 February 24, 2014 Helen Joyce Rogers joined hands with Jesus' this past Monday morning, February 24th. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Dorrell officiating. Burial will follow at Rome Cemetery in Athens, Texas. Born Helen Joyce Pickell, Helen lived in various cities, to then settle in Waco Texas. Her friendship circle began to grow as well as her 3-year courtship with Freddy Rogers. After "she was sure", Helen and Freddy married and were anticipating their 29th wedding anniversary this coming June. Always together, Helen's love for Freddy was immeasurable. Together, they celebrated life, living independently and working in various jobs for many years and their circle of friendships continued to grow, rarely meeting a stranger. Helen loved crafts, making beaded bracelets and necklaces giving one to folks whom she knew or didn't know it really didn't matter as this was Helen's way of showing how much she cared and loved to be around people. Helen enjoyed singing, watching and singing the lyrics in Elvis Presley movies, taking drives in the country, attending Church Under the Bridge and Bible studies --doing most anything to occupy every waking moment. We thought of her as a "prayer warrior" as Helen's Christian love and faith was evidenced in her caring about others and praying daily for their needs. Helen endeared herself unselfishly-- to so many people, medical professionals and services, including Mission Waco, Friends for Life, The Jeffrey Place, Reliable Home Health, The HOT Regional MHMR Center, Waco Foot and Ankle, West Waco Community Clinic -- all who willingly returned her love. We are also grateful for the compassion extended by the Providence medical staff during recent trials and the Providence Hospice staff during her very brief stay there still making friends only hours before she met Jesus. Helen's best friends, Chris and Joyce Brammer "Pop and Mom" as she called them will truly sense an emptiness that only Helen could fill and are so very grateful for the blessing Helen was in their life. Helen is survived by her devoted husband, Freddy Rogers; her sisters, Eula Faye Durbin and Dorothy Durbin; her brothers-in-law and wives, Donny and Deborah Rogers, Ricky and Wanda Rogers, James and Carol Rogers; and Steve Rogers and several nieces and nephews. Those many moments of laughter and reflection and thanksgiving will linger until we meet again. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WHBfamily.com.
