Helen Teressa Rector Hendrick October 16, 1912 - March 30, 2006 Helen Hendrick, resided in Waco and died Thursday, March 30, 2006 in Bend, OR, at the age of 93. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, April 3, 2006 at Waco Memorial North Park with Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 7:00-9:00PM, Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Helen was born October 16, 1912, in Waco, to Carey Lee Rector and Lela Embry Rector. She attended public schools in Belfalls, Houston and Waco, and graduated from Waco High School in 1930, where she was a member of the tennis team. Helen attended 4-C Commercial College in Waco and worked in the underwriting industry in Waco during the 1930’s, becoming the office manager of Service Mutual Life Insurance Company. In 1938, Helen married David R. Hendrick of Waco. A faithful Christian since her teens, Helen was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco. She was a volunteer in numerous charitable activities, a member of the Book Trailers Club for more than two decades, served as a Chapter Mom for Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Baylor, and was active in the Republican Party as a state convention delegate. Helen and David were principals in Hendrick & Adams General Contractors until retirement in 1989. Helen was widowed in 1991 after a marriage of 53 years. In addition to her husband and parents, a brother, C. L. Rector, Jr, predeceased Helen. Helen is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Peter Chase of Alpine, TX; son and daughter-in-law, David “Sandy” Hendrick and Martha of Bend, OR; granddaughter, Elizabeth O’Neal of Bend, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be J. Randall Page, Tom C. Cunningham, William J. Deaton, M.D. and Tim Megarity. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Salvation Army or charity of choice.
