Rev. Henry Curtis, Sr. October 6, 1928 - May 6, 2010 Rev. Henry W. Curtis Sr. of Waco died May 6, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, at St. James United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 9, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco. Rev. Curtis was born October 6, 1928, in Marlin, Texas. On March 15, 1952, he married Ms. Phara L. Curtis, who preceded him in death. To this union five children were born. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Bracks United Methodist Church, Waco, Texas. He served as a minister in the United Methodist Church for over 60 years. He was a faithful pastor of: St. Paul United Methodist Church in Georgetown, St. Luke United Methodist Church in Mexia, Dennis Chapel United Methodist Church in Groesbeck, West Point United Methodist Church in Valley Mills, and St. James United Methodist Church in Mart. Rev. Curtis retired in 1970 following 21 years in the United States Air Force and following more than 16 years of loyal service with the Department of Veterans Affairs he retired in 1990 as a veterans benefits counselor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. S.W. Curtis, one sister; Lois Marie Curtis; and one brother; Simon M. Curtis. Loved ones who will cherish his memories are his five children, Inez Nobles and husband, Eric, the Rev. Henry W. Curtis Jr. and wife, Rozanne, Ramona Curtis, Phara Williams and husband, Bobby, Barbara Cartwright and husband, William III; 9 grandchildren, Tracy Bisor, Clemmie Walker, Tee Haggerty, Christalyn Phillips, La Trenda Peoples, Terrence Curtis, Monroe Nichols IV, William Allen Cartwright IV, and Henry W. Curtis III; four sisters, Etta Evans and husband Leroy, Eula Robinson and husband, R. J. and Ethel Curtis and Pearlie Isaac; 16 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
