HESTER KEENER MEARS Hester Keener Mears, age 87, of Waco died Friday, July 4, 2003. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, July 7 at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville with Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 6 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Ms. Mears was born on March 23, 1916 in Rock Island, Texas. She was reared and educated in the Gatesville area. She had been a resident of Waco for over 45 years. She worked at Hillcrest Hospital in the cafeteria for many years. She enjoyed children and was a babysitter for several families in Waco. Ms. Mears was a longtime member of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Hazel Ruth Simon, three sisters and six brothers. Survivors include her son, Lonnie C. Mears, Jr. and wife Lynda of Burleson; grandchildren, Tommy Keith Simon, Nicole Francisco, and Katie, Travis and Kelly Mears; six great grandchildren; sister, Edrith Wilcox of Waco; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Robert Tidwell, John Kearley, Clinton Batchelor, Allen Grossman, John Henderson and Jay Blakney. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Abshire and Greg Williams.
