Hilde Rosenfeld Levy June 21, 1909 – June 11, 2006 Hilde Rosenfeld Levy, 96, of Waco, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2006. Graveside funeral services will be held at Rodef Sholom Cemetery at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 13, officiated by Rabbis Mordecai Rotem and Robert Loewy. A native of Oehringen, Germany, she fled from there in 1938 with her beloved husband, Otto, to whom she was married for 60 years, before his death in 1996. Her special caregiver for many years was Clotil Jones. In 1941 Hilde and Otto established the O & H Rare Foods, which became a Waco landmark for over 50 years. More than a grocery store, it was known for its vast selection of fine foods from around the world, as well as the personal service from Hilde, Otto, and long time co-worker Johnny Peters. Hilde was a member of Temple Rodef Sholom and its Sisterhood, Hadassah and the Waco Symphony. She is survived by her brother Justin Rosenfeld, nephew Bernd Hirsch and nieces Lynn Rosenfeld Loewy, Sue Ann Rosenfeld Hanson and Jo Ann Rosenfeld Potashnick, and sister-in-law Rae Levin. She was the sister of the late Liesel Hirsch and aunt to Kurt Hirsch. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Temple Rodef Sholom or the charity of your choice.
