Hildegarde Phillips

PHILLIPS, HILDEGARDE Hildegarde Phillips, 83 a 51 year resident of China Spring died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 in a local nursing facility. Services will be held at 11:30am Saturday, August 28 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Allen Grant and the Rev. Terry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Friday, August 27 at the funeral home. Ms. Phillips was born September 16, 1920 in Washington County, Texas near Brenham to Theodore and Henrietta Linneman. She was married to R. T. Phillips for 46 years, he preceded her in death. She was an active member of the China Spring United Methodist Church where she was involved as head greeter. She was also involved in the women’s group, Harvest Festival, and Community Senior Citizens Group. She was supportive of the current pastor and the previous pastor. She volunteered for Hillcrest Hospital where she worked in the gift shop for 15 years. Anyone that knew her knew that she was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy Fan. She was caregiver for her community and was a good neighbor. Everyone loved to eat at Hilde’s. She was very proud of her sons. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, Edwin Linneman, Herbert Linneman, John Linneman, Theodore Linneman, Ella Schmedthorst, Lilly Hancock, Clara Wheeler and a son, Dennis Phillips. Survivors include children, Ray Phillips of Mesquite and Ronnie Phillips of Hewitt; daughter-in-law, Loretta Phillips of Mesquite; grandchildren, Beth Riley, Michelle Schroeder and husband, Craig, Todd Phillips, Amy Phillips Arellano and Steven Phillips; and great grandchild, Patrick Riley.
