Homer S. Pittman, Jr.

August 27, 1950 — June 1, 2023

Homer Sewell “Buz” Pittman, Jr, 72, passed away Thursday, June 1 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Hillcrest. Graveside services will be held at a later date.


Buz was born August 27, 1950 in Mineral Wells, Texas to Winifred Chester Cox Pittman and Homer Sewell Pittman. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1968 and attended Weatherford College. He later received certifications from the University of Wisconsin School of Bank Administration and Southern Methodist University Graduate School of Banking. He began a lifelong career as a banker as a VOE student in high school. He served in various positions at banks in Mineral Wells, Abilene, Sweetwater, Cleburne and Southlake before retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Baptist church and in the past had served as a deacon and Sunday school leader as well as church treasurer. He previously was a member of the Evening Lions Club in Mineral Wells and the Kiwanis


He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry King and Milledge King.


He is survived by one son, Drew Pittman and wife Alyssa of Waco, Texas and 4 grandchildren, Oleg, Archer, Ellis and Theo. He is also survived by sister and brother in law, Trudy and Gene Dawson and 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
