HOPPENSTEIN, HOWARD W. Howard W. Hoppenstein passed away at his home in Dallas on Tuesday, June 18th as a victim of a murder. He was buried in Waco with Rabbi Shaina Bachrach and Rabbi Aryeh Rodin officiating. He was born November 6, 1951 in Waco to his parents David and Lorraine Hoppenstein. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1969 and the University of Texas in 1973. His faith was a strong component of his life as was his interests in music and sports, having won championships in table tennis. Compassion, thoughtfulness and kindness were the hallmark of his character. He was truly a gentle man. While a resident of Waco he was president of the Heart of Texas Lions Club and a board member of Congregation Agudath Jacob. At the time of his death he was Vice President of Hoppenstein Properties, Inc., and a member of Ohev Shalom Congregation in Dallas. He is survived by his parents David and Lorraine Hoppenstein, his sister Marsha and Mike Lev of Dallas, his brother Norman and Marcia Hoppenstein of Plano, nieces and nephews, Rachel and Julie Hoppenstein, Eric and Jordan Lev and many loving Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins. He leaves a large void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
