Hugh A. Lewis June 19, 1931 – February 9, 2016 Hugh A. “Lou” Lewis passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Hugh A. Lewis was born June 19, 1931, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to Montford and Alta Lewis (Kentucky). He graduated from Columbia Kentucky High School in 1949. In 1950, Hugh began his career with the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and retired as Master Sergeant, after 20+ years. Hugh was a 50 year member of the Shrine, Scottish Rite and Gurley Lodge. He was also a member of the Air Commando Association, VFW and American Legion. He was a very active golfer and an avid sports fan. He especially loved Texas A&M and Kentucky. Hugh was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Lewis; sisters, Hazel Mackison, Alma Eblen and Doris Campbell. He is survived by his son, Monty Lewis and wife, Cindie; grandsons, Capt. Hugh A. Lewis II and wife, Ashley and Michael Lewis; great granddaughter, Georgia Lynn Lewis; former spouse, Adele Betros Lewis; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, American Diabetes Association and American Heart Association.
