I. N. Ikey Perry

PERRY, I.N. I.N. “Ikey” Perry, 78, of Waco, passed away Friday, March 12, 2004, at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 1:30pm, Monday, March 15, 2004 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, with Rev. Mark Wible officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North with military honors. Mr. Perry was born May 18, 1925 in Waco to Isaac Newton Perry Sr. and Birdie Mae Wright Perry.. He married Genoa Oliver February 2, 1947 in Temple. He was a devoted husband and wonderful father, who revealed his strong Christian faith through his example to others. He will be remembered for his kind deeds. His wealth was in his caring manner, generosity and assistance to family and friends in need. He was a hard worker and began his interest in real estate and residential construction after buying his first lot at age 14 from money he earned mowing lawns and delivering papers. Later he built his first home on the lot. He was proud to serve his country in WWII and served on the LCI 235 naval ship. His hobbies included antique cars. He was a charter member of Grace Temple Baptist Church, Herring Lodge #1224, a past Worshipful Master, where he originated family night and encouraged family dinners at the lodge. He was a member of the Horseless Carriage Club and Antique Automobile Club. He attended 48 out of 50 Texas Antique Car tours. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Troy Perry and a sister, Margaret Oswald. Survivors include his wife, daughters, Stephanie Lyster and husband Johnny of Waco and Connie Clark and husband Dave “Randy” of Waco; son, Steven Perry; grandsons, David R. Clark, Jr. of Waco and Christopher C. Clark of Waco; brother, Floyd Perry of Waco and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be David Clark Jr., Christopher Clark, Tiffaney Crowder, Joe Dugay, Kenny Bason and Tommy Lyster. Honorary pallbearers are Dave Clark and Johnny Lyster. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice, American Cancer Society or favorite charity.
