Illiemae Ida Martin November 26, 1921 February 24, 2011 Illiemae Ida Miller Martin went to be with the Lord and her husband in a perfect world on Thursday, February 24th, 2011, after a long illness. She died with dignity and grace. Services will be 12:00 Noon, Monday, February 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Interment will be in Rosemound Cemetery, where she will rest eternally beside her husband, mother and father. Visitation tentatively will be 5:00 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 27, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. A memorial service in Corpus Christi, Texas, is being planned for a later date. Born in Riesel, TX, November 26, 1921, to Herman Miller, Sr. and Mary Emma Miller, Illiemae graduated from Waco High School in 1940. She married Army 2nd Lt. Russell W. Martin on October 23, 1943, and remained his faithful and loving wife for over 62 years, until his death in 2005. She bore him two children, Alma Marie and Russell Jr. Illiemae was a member of the heralded and extensive Miller family of Waco. She was a former member of Service Memorial Methodist Church and, until her death, Central United Methodist Church, where she loved and was loved by all who knew her there. After her husband's death, she moved to Corpus Christi for health reasons, to live with her son. She regretted leaving Waco, as she had many friends and loved ones, with whom she remained in contact. Illiemae never met a stranger. She always had a kind word for people as she passed by, whether walking or being pushed in her wheelchair. We could say volumes more about this wonderful woman, but we're limited here by space. You'll have to attend her funeral to get "the rest of the story." She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell W. Martin and one granddaughter, Kelly Michelle Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Alma Marie Marty Holmes, of Livingston, TX; her son, Russell W. Martin, Jr. of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. We, the surviving family, want to thank the many friends who called, emailed, wrote letters, sent cards, and those who made the trip to Corpus Christi to visit Mom over the last 5+ years. Your love and friendship meant so much to her. We want to thank the caring individuals too numerous to mention individually with Corpus Christi Adult Daycare, Trisun Care Center, Visiting Angels of The Coastal Bend, and Lighthouse Hospice Care in Corpus Christi, who made life better for Mom, when it counted. She loved flowers. However, in lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations may be made to Central United Methodist Church. May God bless her and all those she leaves behind The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WilkirsonHatchBailey.com.
