Ira W. Royals, Sr.

Ira W. Royals, SR. age 90, of Waco, passed away Friday, February 20, 2004. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 23, 2004 at Lorena Cemetery with Rev. Michael O. Patterson officiating. Ira was born in Lorena January 23, 1914; he attended school there and was a graduate of Lorena High School. He was in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He joined the Waco Police Department in 1941 and worked his way through the ranks, retiring as a Lt. in 1980. He married Annaloren Larson, a registered nurse; she preceded him in death in 1980. He was a member of First Lutheran Church. Survivors include son, Ira W. Royals Jr. and wife Linda J. of Lorena; granddaughter, Nova Birchfield and husband Tracy of Austin, Texas; great-grandson, Carl William Birchfield.
