Iris E. Shaw January 6, 1932 – April 20, 2006 Iris E. Shaw, 74, of 3829 North Twenty Second Street, Waco, Texas passed into eternal life peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at her residence, while surrounded by family and friends. Graveside services will be held Monday, April 24, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Waco Memorial South Chapel Hill Cemetery, with Reverend David Shuttlesworth officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2006 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Garden Room at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas. Iris was born January 6, 1932 in Hearne, Texas and has lived in Waco, Texas for the past 55 years. She was employed for many years at Advertising Marketing Associates. Iris was an avid bowler and participated in tournaments nationwide. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, with fishing being one of her greatest pleasures. Iris also enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, where she loved playing the slot machines. She is preceded in death by her parents, Otho and Hazel Abbott; a sister, Jackie Allen; and husband, her true love of 36 years, Charles E. Shaw. Iris, a beloved mother, is survived by daughters, Donna Shaw of Round Rock, Texas and Debbie Herring of Waco, and sons, Charles Butch Shaw and wife Beverly of Hewitt, and Jim Shaw and wife Peggy of Austin. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth “Tootsie” Phelps and husband Don of Austin. Iris is affectionately known as “Nonnie” to her twelve grandchildren: Heather, Jason and Amy Hollingsworth, Michael Ann Brazelton, Jonah & Matt Hogg, Andrea Shaw, Nancy Shaw and Kevin Shaw and wife Jhonny, Devon & Jeremy Grisham, and Brad Baxley. She was known as “Gigi” to her two great grandchildren Keelyn and Josh. Iris leaves behind many friends and other family members who will always remember her kindness, warmth, smiles, guiding hand, strength and sense of humor. She will truly be missed by all.
