Irving Stupak

December 24, 1919 — May 1, 2005

Irving Stupak, 85, a life-time resident of Waco, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2005 at home. Graveside services will be held at 2pm Tuesday, May 3, at Agudath-Jacob Cemetery, with Rabbi Gordon Fuller and Elliott Wolpo officiating. Mr. Stupak was born December 24, 1919 to Phillip and Sarah Taub Stupak in New York City. His family moved to Waco when he was an infant. He graduated from Waco High School and attended Baylor University, and was an avid supporter of Baylor athletics, and an ardent sports fan. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Deana Frindell on November 3, 1946. He was a partner in Central Produce Company in Waco for over 65 years. He was an active member of Congregation Agudath-Jacob Synagogue. He was a past Vice-President of Agudath-Jacob Synagogue and member of B’nai B’rith. He coached and sponsored Waco Little League teams and served as a past President of the Junior Teen-age Baseball League. He also served as a member of the Wholesale Beer Distributors Association, Texas Restaurant Association, the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, Baylor Bear Club, Baylor Fast Break Club, and proud member of the Democratic Party. He lived a long life and was dearly loved by everyone. He was a loving and caring son, son-in-law, husband, father, grandfather, and a great friend to all. He “never knew a stranger.” He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Deana F. Stupak of Waco; son, Michael Scott Stupak of Waco; daughters, Harriet Stupak of Waco and Ellen Stupak-Shaw and husband, Richard of Houston; beloved granddaughter Patricia Ann Annie Shaw; Richard Carl Shaw, Jr., wife, Evguenia and their son, Richard Carl Shaw III; John Alexander Alex Shaw and wife, Cathy, all of Houston; sister-in-law, Esther Hoffman of Waco; brother-in-law, Sander Frindell and wife, Anita of Sun Lakes, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Albert Taub, Jack Taub, Carl Shaw, Alex Shaw, Craig Hoffman, Bobby Starnes, Jeff Wolf, and Charles Levy. Honorary pallbearers will be Irving Taub, Sander Frindell, Jerry Moser, Alan Moser, Raymond Riptoe, Jake Bauer, Henry Taub, David Hoppenstein, and Walter Dulock. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Waco doctors, Richard Kleiman and R. Brown, Dr. Z from Austin, and the Hillcrest Hospital Nursing Staff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agudath-Jacob Synagogue, The American Heart Association, or The American Diabetes Association.
