J.D. Guthrie, III January 14, 1959 November 1, 2014 Jewell Douglas Guthrie, III of Axtell, Texas, passed away November 1, 2014, at his parents' home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. John Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 6, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. J.D. was born January 14, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Dr. Douglas and Bettye Guthrie, Jr. J.D. worked at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waco for 31 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and dog and horse trainer. He also volunteered for the Historic Waco Foundation. He was a dear friend and "Dad" to many. He was preceded in death by his parents. J.D. is survived by his wife, Rebecca Guthrie, of Axtell; two sons, Jed Guthrie, IV, and wife, Amanda, of Axtell and Kenny Grisham and wife, Christy, of Waco; one daughter, Ashley Grisham of Axtell; three grandsons, Jaxon and Korbin Grisham and Dee Guthrie, V; one sister, Kyle Guthrie Thomas and husband, Ken, of Richmond, Texas; and one niece, Emily Elizabeth Thomas. Pallbearers are Richard Jones, Josh Jones, Bobby Evans, Matt Monroe, Andy Dodd and Dustin Patton.
