J. Frank Nix, Jr. January 12, 1922 - January 28, 2011 J. Frank Nix, Jr., 89 began his heavenly life on January 28, 2011. A private family burial service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery with Monsignor Mark Deering officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Frank was born in Portales, NM on January 12, 1922, to the Reverend J. F. Nix and Bertha Elizabeth Nix, where he attended school before graduating from Clovis, New Mexico High School. Prior to World War II he attended Texas Tech University, transferring to Baylor University in 1941. With the beginning of the war Frank enlisted in the Army Air Corp, earning his wings at Blackland Air Field Base in Waco and later serving as an army flight instructor. Following the war, he returned to Baylor where he earned his BBA in 1947. Following his graduation from Baylor, Frank worked for IBM Corporation. After transferring to Corpus Christi, he met Jean Eldridge who became his wife and soul mate. They were married on February 11, 1956, in Houston and later moved to Dallas where he continued his career with IBM. In 1957, he and Jean moved to Waco, joining his brother John in the real estate and insurance business. Nix and Company Realtors operated from 1957 to 2007. Frank was a member of the Waco Association of Realtors and served as President in 1963 and was named Realtor of the Year. He served as president of the Texas Association of Realtors in 1976, and later served as a director of the National Association of Realtors. For many years, Frank was active on numerous boards and civic organizations that served Waco and the surrounding area. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waco. Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, John Nix and Col. William Nix; and sister Sophia Nix Pierman. Frank is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean; daughter Angela Nix Carter and husband, Gary, of Waco; sons Frank Scott Nix and wife, Robin, of China Spring, and James Patrick Nix and wife, Jan, of Waco; grandchildren Stacy Carter Massaudi and husband, Rahmin, of Keller, Jean Carter of Waco, Amanda Nix of Hewitt, Bradley Nix and wife, Becky, of Waco, Morgan Nix and Lauren Nix of Waco, Tiffany Martin, Steven Martin, and Jordan Martin of Waco, one great-grandchild, Brayden Nix of Waco; brother Joe Nix and wife, Francis, of Lubbock; sisters Beth Nix Wallis of Clayton, NM, Lucille Koproske of San Diego, CA; along with numerous nieces and nephews; friend Tom Moore and many other dear friends. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, the Heart of Texas Arthritis Foundation, or the charity of one's choice.
