J. R. Dick Johnson

JOHNSON, J. R. DICK J. R. Dick Johnson, age 66, of Patton Community died Friday, December 28, 2001 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 9:30AM Monday, December 31st at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Dr. Jack Green officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Mills Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5:00-7:00PM Sunday, December 30th at the funeral home. Mr. Johnson was born October 11, 1935 in West Virginia. He had been a longtime resident of the Waco area. He married Peggy Swinnea July 23, 1954 in Waco. He worked for and managed Sherwin-Williams Paint and Kelly Moore Paint for many years. He was also involved in church renovation for 40 years and enjoyed ranching. Mr. Johnson was a member of First Baptist Church in Valley Mills. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elsie Johnson, his son, Joseph Richard Johnson, Jr. and two brothers, Lawrence Davis and J. D. Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Johnson of Valley Mills, daughter, Sue Gohlke and husband, James of Crawford, daughter-in-law, Kim Johnson of Lewisville, granddaughters, Jamie and Jackie Gohlke, Jennifer, Amy and Ashley Johnson, great granddaughter, Aliyah Casey, sister, Ora Ruth Withrow and husband, Glen of Austin, brothers, Bill Davis and wife, Bonnie of Waco and Charles Johnson of Hurst, and several nieces and nephews.
