Jack Beckworth January 5, 1922 - September 15, 2006 Jack Beckworth of Waco passed away Friday, September 15, 2006 at his residence. Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, September 18 at Western Heights Baptist Church with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 – 10:45 am on Monday prior to the service at the Church. Jack was born January 5, 1922 in Houston to Carlos Beckworth and Mae Beckworth Phillips. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He received a Purple Heart, participating in the invasion of Italy where he was wounded at the Battle of San Pietro. Becoming a Christian as a young boy, Jack felt led to serve the Lord in vocational church ministry. He graduated from Baylor University in 1950 and Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary in 1952. He served as Minister of Education at Brook Avenue Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Rotan, Tx. He was an active deacon at Western Heights Baptist Church and was active in nursing home ministry for many years, visiting in area nursing homes on a regular basis and holding Bible studies. He was employed as Purchasing Agent for Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for 26 years. In retirement, Jack enjoyed painting as a hobby and produced the baptistery mural for First Baptist Church, Eddy. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Elmer, Elliot, and Durell Beckworth. He is survived by wife, Lometa Beckworth of Waco; sons, David Jack Beckworth and wife Cynthia of Chappell Hill and Stanley Wayne Beckworth and wife Kelly of Waco; sister, Mae Jean Holcomb of Waco; grandchildren, Alicia Seaton, Jana Dexter, Benjamin Beckworth, Isaac Beckworth, Tiegan Beckworth, Brendon Kieran, Laura Beckworth, Joel Beckworth, Mary Anna Beckworth, and Faith Beckworth; brother-in-law, Charlie Ramsey and wife Jackie and sister-in-law Lelia Barker and numerous nieces and nephews.
