Jack Gene Davis February 21, 1929 – July 25, 2006 Jack G. Davis of Waco, 77, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2006. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 27 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Chapel with Rev. Stephen Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 26 from 5 to 7 pm at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Mr. Davis was born February 21, 1929, in Waco to Jerald G. and Essie Scott Davis. He attended Waco schools and graduated from Waco Technical School in 1948. Jack married LaVerne Tyler on April 4, 1952 in Waco. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a postal clerk from 1960 to 1990. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church most of his young life, but more recently a member of Chalk Bluff Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, who died in March of 2006, his parents and two brothers. Survivors include his three sons, Jamey Davis and wife Joeena of LaPorte, Les Davis and wife Becky of Waco and Royce Davis and wife Colette of LaPorte; two grandchildren, Jaren Bollinger and husband David of Humble and Jordan Davis of LaPorte; one brother Dennis Davis and wife Mary of Ventura, CA; three sisters, Geraldine Brown of Decatur, Corinne Bennett of Waco and Mary Anne Hill and husband Roland of Pasadena; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are his sons, Jamey, Les and Royce Davis, grandson Jordan Davis, nephew Kenneth Davis and long time friend Sam Mangrum. Memorials may be made to Chalk Bluff Baptist Church.
