He was born on January 8, 1921, in Ben Arnold, Texas, to Jessie Price and Mary Ellen Westbrook Price. He worked for the state highway department for a year until he went into the military during World War II. He served for four years as a military policeman. He met and married Ouida Marie Phillips Price, and they were married for 63 years until her death in 2006. Jack worked for the post office from 1950 until his medical retirement in the 1960s. He owned a grocery store on LaSalle, then a drive-in grocery in Woodway for a number of years. He worked at the Methodist Home from 1977-1988, managing the food supplies for the various homes for children. Jack and his wife were members of Memorial Baptist Church, until they joined North Waco Baptist Church in 1973. Jack was a deacon and usher and did various jobs for his church. He moved his church membership to Park Lake Drive Baptist Church around 2005 but had been unable to attend for some time. He cooked barbecue and pinto beans and sold them along with hot link sandwiches at his store in Woodway. He was also known by the neighborhood kids for the great cakes he made. He loved to garden and grow tomatoes, onions and garlic. He will be missed by his three children, Richard Price of Colorado, Debbie and husband, Tim Parker, of San Antonio, and Shelia and husband, Billy Hixson, of Robinson. He has 10 grandchildren: Chris, Susan, Brandon and wife, Tanya, Amanda, Cassie, and Jeff Price, Paul and Chris Parker, and Tara and husband, Chris Lazaro, as well as Ryan Hixson. He has two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Nannie Faye Devers of Waco. Special thanks to our cousin, Dana Phillips and his dad, Dalton, who spent hours with him, as well as his good neighbors, Teresa and Roy Luna. We appreciate Mary Clayton, who helped Dad in many ways during the last year of his life.
