Jacklyn Ann Spitzer September 12, 1933 – March 8, 2006 Jacklyn Spitzer passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2006. Visitation with the family will be at 3:00 PM and the service will be at 4:00 PM Saturday, March 11 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial with military rights will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 17th at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota, where her parents are buried. Jacklyn was born September 12, 1933 in Centerville, SD to Rueben C. and Doris Leona Pierce. As a child she grew up in Hot Springs, SD and graduated in 1951 from Hot Springs High School. During her high school days she was a band majorette and twirler and then she developed clinical polio at the age of 18. She was a bookkeeper and worked in Denver. CO at University Parks Lumber Yard and then, while back in Hot Springs she worked at Ford Motor Company. There she met and married Bill Spitzer, her husband of almost 50 years, on May 4, 1956. They moved to Rapid City, SD and she worked for Black Hills Oldsmobile/Cadillac until 1972. The family moved to Waco in February of 1975 where she helped in the family business. They lived briefly in Fort Collins, CO working at the County Court House and then in Omaha, NB. They returned to Waco in 1983 to restart a family business and at that time Jacklyn went to work for Educators Credit Union until her retirement in 1996. She was a life member of VFW Post 1273 of Rapid City, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 2 brothers and a son, Doug. She is survived by husband, Bill of Woodway, daughter, Lorry Bailey and husband, Bill and three grandchildren: Pierce, Paige and Jackson Bailey all of Seabrook, TX. Also surviving are five sisters: Donna Pecson, Mary Beatty, Betty Hernandez, Sandy Merril and Jo Ellen Stark; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
