Jackson Bryce Burch June 8, 1933 - August 5, 2008 Jackson Bryce Burch of Waco passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Following a private family burial, memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. August 7, at Meadowbrook Baptist Church with Pastor Cary Killough officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Jack was born June 8, 1933 in Waco to J.B. "Barney" and Nadine Stout Burch. He graduated from Waco High School in 1951 and from Baylor University in 1955. On June 4, 1955, Jack married his sweetheart, Sondra Witt Burch. Jack served his country in the United States Air Force with a tour in England where he and Sondra began their family with the birth of their oldest son, Jackson Bryce Burch, Jr. Upon his return to Waco, Jack followed in his father's footsteps as a new and used auto dealer. It was during these years that Jack and Sondra completed their family with the births of Treacy Andrew Burch and Ben Cleveland Burch. Jack's love of the auto business led him to his career at T.S.T.C. where he was an instructor in the automotive department and later became a recruiter, a job he loved. Jack retired from T.S.T.C. after 24 years of service. Jack was an active member of the Waco community. He served on many Boards of Directors including the Texas Automobile Dealer's Association, Texas National Bank, Better Business Bureau, Hedonia Club, Waco Chamber of Commerce, United Way and Lake Air Little League. Jack also served as President of the Waco Chapter of the Air Force Association, member of the Greater Waco Safety Council, Baylor Alumni Association, Waco Rotary Club and Captain in the US Air Force Reserves. He was a member of the James H. Lockwood Masonic Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and the Karem Shrine. He served as a volunteer for Hillcrest Hospital working in the Emergency Room and enjoyed his volunteer service at the Family Abuse Center and Regis St. Elizabeth. In his retirement, Jack continued to serve others as a driver for Meals on Wheels. He loved his Wednesday Night Domino Group, the Monday Lunch Bunch and the Willow City Deer Lease Group. Jack will be remembered for his zest for life, his wonderful sense of humor and his love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Treacy. He is survived by his loving wife, Sondra; his sister, Catherine Burch Bass of Dallas; his son, Jackson Bryce Burch, Jr., Ben Cleveland Burch and wife, Genie; daughter-in-law, Tracy Burch; and his grandchildren, Lottie, Colton, Amber, Tanner and Braxton. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Cleveland Witt and wife, Martha; his aunt, Patricia Witt; and his nieces, nephews and cousins, who are all dear to him. Honorary pallbearers are his special friends, Dan Mayfield, James Wood, Rondy Gray, Cleveland Witt, Leo Bradshaw, Wilton Lanning, Donald Marlow and Dean McNeil. The family would like to thank Fresenius Kidney Center; Hillcrest Hospice, Dr. Robert G. Brown, Quality Care staff and special caregivers, Gwen and Sherry.
