James Landfair James B. Landfair, 83, of Waco passed away Sept. 14, 2004, at his residence. A private family service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Waco. James was born to Mr. and Mrs. Hutchins Landfair on Aug. 21, 1921, at Tillar, Ark. He graduated from Tillar High School in 1939 and attended Arkansas A&M. He then entered the Army Air Force and served at several bases before marrying Billie Herrington on March 7, 1942. During WWII, he served in the Pacific, and later was stationed in South Korea. He retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. James and Billie moved to Waco in August 1961, and he retired from Huck Manufacturing in 1986. James was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waco and attended the Weslyan Workers Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the J.H. Gurley Lodge No. 337 A.F. & A.M. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Billie; daughter, Barbara and husband, Jerry Powell; grandchildren, Colin and Calley Powell; brothers, Robert and wife, Carol of Tillar, Ark., Gerald and wife, Wilene of Richardson, and Thomas and wife, Barbara of Little Rock, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the Weslyan Workers Sunday School Class for their care and concern, Dr. Charles Shoultz Jr. and his staff, the Providence Heart Failure Clinic staff, and Southern Care Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Waco or the Providence Heart Failure Clinic.
