James T. Carter

Tommy Carter of Waco, Texas, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024. 

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel in Waco, Texas, with Dr. John Wood officiating. Following the service, interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel, prior to the service. 

Tommy Carter was born on January 14, 1943, to Clarence and Mary Carter. After graduating from Baylor University, he embarked on a diverse and fulfilling professional journey. Early in his career, Tommy worked at American Amicable in Waco before transitioning into real estate with Kelly Realtors. However, his true passion was caring for others, which ultimately led him to serve as an administrator at the Valley Mills Care Center and later at Quality Care Waco, where he retired. 

Tommy lived a rich and joyful life, enjoying hobbies such as traveling and gardening. A lifelong resident of Mount Calm and Waco, he was a dedicated and faithful member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church throughout his life. 

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Carter. 

Tommy is survived by many cherished friends, including his lifelong best friend, Chuck Purvis. Those who knew him often described him as the embodiment of true friendship: caring, loving, and full of life. His warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew him. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to : the American Heart Association or the Columbus Avenue Baptist Church.
