James Chapoton Gresham Sr. September 25, 1928 - June 28, 2007 James Chapoton Gresham, Sr. of Waco passed away Thursday, June 28, 2007 at his residence. Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 2, at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit with the Father John Wells officiating. Reception in the Parish Hall will follow the memorial service. Jim was born September 25, 1928 to Ida and James S. Gresham in Waco. He graduated from Waco High in 1946 and from Baylor University with a B.A. degree in 1951. He served in the Texas National Guard, joined the U.S. Air Force and was a graduate of the Officer Candidate School. After leaving the Air Force he went to work for Universal Atlas Cement Company and moved to Jacksonville, FL where he met his wife to be, Mary Ward. They married in February of 1957. Universal Atlas transferred him back to Waco as Sales Manager in 1960. Upon retirement from Lehigh, formerly Universal Atlas Cement, he moved to Dallas to help in the start up and development of Boxx-Crow Cement Company. Jim was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit and was an avid golfer, until failing health no longer permitted him to play. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who provided and loved his family up until the day of his death. He was always our “Numero Uno”. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his daughter, Lee Ann Priebe; his son, James “Chappy” Gresham Jr., all of Waco; brother, Joe Mac Gresham and wife, Dianne of Austin; grandchildren, Courtney and David Priebe of Waco.
