James E. Burns August 29, 1936 - February 8, 2013 James E. Burns, 76, of Waco passed away Friday, February 8, 2013, surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 11, at First United Methodist Church of Waco, located at 4901 Cobbs Dr. A private, family only, burial will precede the service. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on August 29, 1936. James spent most of his youth in Osceola, Ark., and subsequently attended the University of Arkansas, where he earned a degree in agriculture and met his wife, Annette McCown, whom he married in 1956. James held a variety of professional positions, including working many years for the Farm Bureau and as the president of several banks, before moving back to Waco and entering the real estate profession. He was a great father of three children and grandfather to four grandchildren. His special interests included traveling with Annette, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Annette, of Waco; his mother, Emily, of Little Rock; sister, Bettie Hall; children, Everett Burns and his wife, Charlotte, Charles Burns and his wife, Becky, and Joel Burns; and grandchildren, James Burns, Benjamin Burns, Patrick Burns and Katherine Burns.
