James Earl Remedies, Sr. February 9, 1940 – September 28, 2007 James “Babe” Remedies, Sr., 67, of Waco passed away Friday, September 28, 2007, after a long illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waco, Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Angelo Bertini officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday October 1 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. James Babe was born February 9, 1940, in Zwolle, LA to Willy and Susan Remedies. He attended Zwolle High School and graduated in 1959. He married Dorothy Marie Turan on March 13, 1960 in Milam, TX. They moved to Waco where he worked as a metal lather for 45 years. He was a kind and loving Dad and Papaw, who always gave more than he received. He loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed barbeques and Sunday dinners. He was a great dancer and an instant friend to everyone he met. This extraordinary, courageous man will be dearly missed but will be alive in our hearts forever. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 31 years, brothers Luke Remedies, Jeff Remedies, Floyd Falcon, Doc Remedies and sisters Ethel Stroud and Dee Dee Wooley. Survivors include a son, James Remedies, Jr. of Waco; two daughters, Sandy Loa and husband Frank of Waco, Evette Almanza and husband Richard of Bosqueville; a brother John Remedies of Many, LA, special niece Margie Meshell of Shreveport, LA and niece Betty Jo Gentry of Zwolle, LA; four very dear sisters-in-law, Bernice Ebarb, Annie Parrie, and Betty Jo LaRue of Zwolle, LA, Francis Holloway of Shreveport, LA; seven grandchildren, Mario Amaro, Tiffany Amaro, Jimmy Murphy Loa, Richard M. Almanza, Jamie Guerra, John Almanza and Frank Loa III; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Ricky Malmay, Scott LaRue, Anthony Remedies, Jay Craig, Phillip Campbell and Joaquin Jimenez. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Vasquez, Mikki Meshell, Marell Lopez, Bobby Remedies, Freddy Crook and Phillip Parrie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Church of Waco.
