James F. Flynn

FLYNN, JAMES F. James F. Flynn, age 87, of Waco died Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at a local hospital. Graveside services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, January 29 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. David Leibham officiating. Arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Flynn was born in Kokomo, Indiana to L. J. “Boots” and Ruth Shively Flynn on September 22, 1915. He graduated from Kokomo High School. He served in U.S. Army during WWII and attained the rank of Major and also was a Military Governor in Germany. He attended Baylor University and graduated from Baylor Law School. During his career, he was employed by the Waco Chamber of Commerce, First National Bank, Brazos River Authority and Texas Life Insurance Co. He also was a teacher in the Baylor School of Business and also Paul Quinn School of Business. He also served on numerous boards in the community including, Heart Of Texas Fair and Rodeo, United Way, Goodwill, and many others. He married Maxine Coleman December 9, 1942. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and friend to many. Survivors include his wife, Maxine Flynn of Waco; daughter, Terry Stringer and husband, Cotter of Waco; grandson, Cotter Stringer, Jr. of Waco; sister, Payte Meador of Kokomo, Indiana; and brother, John Flynn of LaFayette, Indiana.
