James Francis Greer, 88, of Waco, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
His funeral will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with The Rev. Brandon McGinnis officiating.
James Francis Greer was born in Waco, December 18, 1934, to F.L.C. Greer and Frances Ward Greer and lived in the Waco area all his life. He graduated from Waco High School in the class of 1952. He graduated from the University of Texas School of Business and from Baylor Law School in 1958. During his study at Baylor, he was editor of the Baylor Law Review. He was a member of the McLennan County Bar Association and various other bar associations.
Jim practiced law in Waco with his father in the office of Greer and Greer. Upon his father’s death in 1967, he became associated with the Dunnam and Dunnam Law Office.
He retired form active practice in 1987, but continued to be involved in ranching, real estate, and other business interests.
Jim was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He spent many years caring for his older extended family members as their principle caregiver.
In 1975, Jim married Lois Boemer and her three children and moved to Woodway, where they lived all of their married life. He was a very generous, kind, and loving gentleman and was devoted to all of his family. He especially enjoyed history and nature and he and his wife travelled to many sites in the US. They spent many years enjoying summers in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Evadne; and his brother, Robert Greer.
He is survived by his wife; children, Buddy Wuthrich, Sharon Rudolph, and Jan Masterson and their families; nephew, Jimmy Greer; and niece, Emily Greer.
