James J. P. Lamb, Sr.

LAMB, SR., JAMES J. P. James J. P. Lamb, Sr. fought the good fight, finished the course, kept the faith, and the time of his departure came Sunday, July 21, 2002 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, July 25 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Barry Camp officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-8:00PM Wednesday, July 24 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Lamb was born in Waco, Texas on August 8, 1913 to Genevieve and Fisher Lamb. He graduated from Waco High School in 1931 and attended Baylor University. He married Johnny Smith Dosher on June 3, 1937, and they had recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. Mr. Lamb owned and operated J.P. Lamb Tire and Battery in Waco for about 50 years before his retirement in 1993. During retirement, J. P. was a volunteer delivering Meals On Wheels for many years. He had recently been recognized as a 50-year member of J. H. Gurley Masonic Lodge #337. Mr. Lamb was a member of Highland Baptist Church and had attended the Downtown Bible Study Class that met at the Lee Lockwood Library. Mr. Lamb was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Hattie Arthur, and one son, James Pope Lamb, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Johnny Lamb of Waco; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Spike Pattillo of Waco; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Kathy Lamb of Warner Robins, Georgia, and William “Bill” and Denise Lamb of Denver, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his faithful sister-in-law, Mrs. J. N. “Ann” Woodard; two nieces and a nephew. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brett Lamb, Chad Lamb, Jeff Lamb, Robby Lamb, Andy Pattillo, and Matt Pattillo.
