Jim Scrivner, Jr. September 17, 1928 - June 28, 2013 James Scrivner, Jr. of Woodway passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at his residence. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, at the First United Methodist Church of Waco with the Rev. Stephen Ramsdell and the Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, June 30, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Jim was born September 17, 1928 in Dallas, Texas to Olga and James Scrivner, Sr. After graduating high school he joined the Army and proudly served his country for 5 years as a radio operator, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. He then returned home where he and his father went into business together in the commercial egg production business. Jim committed his life to serving others. He was a member of the Karem Shriners where he served in the Clown unit as "Theo the Clown", a Lion's Club member and a Master Mason in the Scottish Rite. Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waco and a lifelong Methodist. He served in the Walk to Emmaus Community, Kairos Prison Ministry, and made several mission trips to South America to build churches. He was preceded in death by his parents Olga and James Scrivner, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Murt Scrivner, of Woodway, two sons, two step-sons, one step-daughter, 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Jeff Cannon, Sr., Randy Cannon, Jerry Wilson, Richard Braun, Troy Crosslin and Jeffrey Cannon, II. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Weeks, Walter Raynaud, and Bill Locklar. Memorials may be made to Shiners Hospitals for Children, First United Methodist Church or other charities of your choice.
