J. Kenneth Ken Stevens March 10, 1915 - January 15, 2008 J. Kenneth Stevens, 92, of Waco passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at St. Catherine's Center. A private family memorial service will be held. Ken was born March 10, 1915 in Pesotum, Ill. to James A. & Cleo Stevens. He worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad in St. Louis, Mo and retired as a Conductor for Amtrak. He moved to Waco in 2003 to be with his family. His major interests in Waco were gatherings of family and friends, swimming at the Y and lunches at the Harrison Senior Center. Ken participated in the water aerobics sessions daily at the Waco Y and swam laps every Saturday up until his recent hospitalization. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters, his wife Virginia d. 1942 and wife Marie d. 2003 and is survived by his sister Darlene Hoover and husband Bob of Decatur, Ill. He is survived by his sons, Terry Stevens and wife, Elaine of Waco and Jim Stevens and wife, Debbie of Bossier City, LA; his Grandchildren and their families: Donna Stevens of Houston and son Jonathan; Debbie Davenport, husband Del and children Danielle, Courtney & Dalton of The Woodlands; Kenny Stevens, wife, Kim and children Benjamin, Nicholas, Matthew & Elizabeth of Waco; Tracy Greaber, husband, Stacy and children Parker & Audrey of Corinth, TX; Kellie Wood, husband, Burleigh and son Ryan of Lewisville; Tamara Strahan of Lewisville; Michael Stevens of Dallas; Patrick Stevens, wife, Brandy and daughter Makynzie of Broomfield, Co. and a large number of loving nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the swim instructors and the many swim aerobics friends he had at the Y. He truly enjoyed your friendship and the monthly luncheons at Uncle Dans. And a thanks to the Yellow Cab drivers who picked him up each day to and from the Y. This gave him freedom and independence after his driving days were over. A special thanks to the Providence ICU nurses for your caring attention and supurb treatment during his final weeks. Memorial donations may be made to The Waco Family Y or the Providence Foundation.
