James Madison Warner July 7, 1919 - August 21, 2009 James Madison Warner of Waco passed away Friday, August 21, 2009. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Chuck Treadwell officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday August 24th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. James was born July 7, 1919 in Waco, to Asa and Annie Warner. He graduataed from Waco High School in 1937, and from Texas A&M University in 1941 with honors and a degree in business administration. During his junior year he joined the first class of the Civilian Pilot Training Program at A&M and received his pilot license. Upon graduation he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and ordered to active duty in the 3rd Armored Division. Shortly after he transferred to the Army Air Corps as a pilot. Early in his career, he flew DC-2 transport planes to Panama. After Pearl Harbor he was assigned to flight testing. In 1943 he was promoted to Captain. During his service, he tested bombers, fighters and transport planes for the Army and Navy Air Forces. He returned to Waco in 1946, and joined the family agriculture business. Jmes was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. James and Billye Wardlaw Lieberman married in 1964. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Jean Epperson and Ann Darrow. He is survived by his wife; his son, James Madison Warner, Jr., and his wife, Elizabeth Teemus of Waco; granddaughter Rebecca and her husband, Derrick Atkinson of Dallas; grandson John Noble Warner and his wife Deborah of Waco; and great-grandson Asa James Warner. Pallbearers are John Warner, Derrick Atkinson, Bayard Breeding, Webb Breeding, Mike Wardlaw and Bill Wardlaw. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Angel Fund, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 515 Columbus Avenue, Waco, T X 76701, or the charity of your choice.
