James R. Bayer, Sr.

June 27, 1927 — December 18, 2001

BAYER, SR., JAMES James R. Bayer, Sr., 74, of Waco, died Dec. 18, 2001, in a local hospital. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20 at Waco Memorial Park with the Rev. Melvin Dornak officiating. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30p.m. Wednesday at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 1124 Washington Ave. Mr. Bayer was born June 27, 1927 in Cameron. He grew up in Bellmead and attended La Vega High School. He later married Lillian W. Snider on April 10, 1950 in Waco. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 27 ½ years, where he served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He held memberships in the V.F.W., The American Legion and the Air Force Memorial Society. Mr. Bayer was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Bayer is survived by his wife, Lillian Bayer of Waco; daughters, Katharine Kaylor and husband, Marty of Liberty Lake, Wash., Mary Adella Paul and husband, Gus of Alphretta, Georgia, Theresa Anne Brown and husband, Royal of Ingles, Florida, and Sharon Ann Cox and husband, Joe of Hewitt; sons, James Bayer, Jr., John Paul Bayer and wife, Rita, Jerome Louis Bayer and wife, Kathy, all of Waco; brother, Joseph Bayer and wife, Darlene of Weatherford; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made in Mr. Bayer’s name to the WWII Veteran’s Memorial. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
