JONES, JAMES THOMAS Surrounded by his family, James Thomas Jones passed away Saturday, June 11, 2005 at a local hospital after a two-year long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm, Wednesday, June 15, at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff. The family will receive visitors from 6 - 8 pm, Tuesday, June 14 at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Jim was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 10, 1934 to James and Louise Jones. He graduated from Culver Military Academy in 1953 and was a member of the Black Horse Troop. Jim attended the University of Detroit and also served in the United States Army while stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. Jim was founder and President of Jones Manufacturing, designing and fabricating various steel products. His proudest achievement was obtaining a U.S. patent. Jim was a lifelong racing enthusiast, building and racing motorcycles, boats and cars. He was also an avid Corvette enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Louise Jones and daughter, Denise. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara; sons, James Jones, Jr., Jerry Jones, Jimmy Jones, Darron Jones, Brad Jones; daughter, Sarah Jones; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters, Paula Duffy, Carol Kwasny, Roberta Heap, Jacqueline Barrows; brother, Gibson Jones and pet dog, Gizmo. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Okani, his staff and the 7th floor nursing staff at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for their care over the past two years.
