Jean Ellen DeSmit April 23, 1922 - May 5, 2007 Jean Ellen DeSmit, formerly of Waco passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 at The Vintage Nursing Center in Denton. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 11 at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Msgr. Mark Deering officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Jean was born April 23, 1922 near Penelope, TX to Charley and Mattie Odle. She was the youngest of eleven children. Jean was a volunteer at Providence Hospital for 20 years and loved assisting her husband in scouting activities. Jean has been a lifelong Catholic and was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John DeSmit and her parents. She is survived by her son, Joseph C. DeSmit and wife, Karen of Little Elm, TX; two grandsons, Jeffery DeSmit and his wife, Sharlet of Lake Dallas, TX and Forrest DeSmit and his wife, Erin of Watauga, TX; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Hahn of Robinson, TX and Era Bechtold of Hallsville, TX.
