Jean Thomas met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face, May 3, 2022, at the age of 94. Services will be Monday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. The Rev. D.F. Barrett and the Rev. Mike Murphy will be officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Jean was born in Laredo, Texas. She grew up in Laredo and San Diego, Texas. Jean graduated from Texas State College for Women, now Texas Women’s University, with a degree in music. She met her husband, Frank D. Thomas on a blind date. They were married on December 21, 1947. Jean was the Assistant Band Director at Alice High School for one year. Jean and Frank moved to San Diego, Texas, where Frank worked in Jean’s father’s car dealership. A few years later, they moved to Freer, Texas, where Frank owned a Chevrolet-Oldsmobile dealership, Freer Motor Company. Jean was a homemaker and devoted mother to Frank, Jr., and Donna. After her children went to college, she worked in the accounting department at Freer Motor Company. She was very active in church. She played the organ at First Baptist Church, Freer, and was involved with the Women’s Missionary Union for many years. Jean and Frank won many Chevrolet contests and were able to take some memorable trips in the states and abroad. They sold their business and retired to Waco to be near their children and their families. They were active in church activities at First Baptist Church, Hewitt, and delivered Meals on Wheels. Jean loved being a part of Baylor Singing Seniors. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and J.B. Donoho; husband, Frank; sisters, Shirley Burgess and Arvel DeVol; and brother J.B. Donoho, Jr. Jean is survived by her brother, Tom Donoho and wife, Jean; son, Frank and wife, Jan; daughter, Donna Murphy and husband, Mike; grandsons, Ryan Thomas and wife, Caitlin, Adam Murphy and wife, Jennifer, and Alan Murphy; granddaughters, Amanda Talbert and husband, Jared, Ashley Tullous and husband, Heath; great-grandsons, Hank Talbert and Pascal Thomas; great-granddaughters, Kylie and Brailyn Tullous, Hannah Kate and Hayden Talbert, and Sid Lombardo. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
