Jeanine Burt Cobb, lovingly known as "GrandJean," passed away on March 18, 2025, in Waco, at the age of 91. Family and friends are invited to honor Jeanine’s life at a visitation March 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home at 6101 Bosque Blvd., in Waco. A memorial service will be held March 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 305 N. 30th Street, in Waco. A reception will follow the service.
Born on November 21, 1933, in Fort Worth, Texas, Jeanine grew up with a strong sense of community and dedication to service. She attended Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth before continuing her education at Arlington State University in Arlington, Texas. Her professional career led her to work as an administrative assistant at Hercules in McGregor, Texas, where she was known for her diligence and commitment.
Jeanine was a devoted member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church for over 60 years. Her faith played a central role in her life, and she found great joy in serving as the Flower Chairman for the Altar Guild for many years. She also dedicated much of her time to volunteer work, always seeking ways to give back to her community.
A woman of many talents and interests, Jeanine enjoyed reading suspense novels, writing haiku poetry, and completing NY Times crossword puzzles daily. She also enjoyed making holiday cards, a heartfelt tradition that brought joy to those around her. Her creativity and thoughtfulness were evident in everything she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ila Burt; her husband, George Cobb; three brothers; and one sister.
Jeanine leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: daughters, Kris Genitempo and husband, Greg; Dana Crooks; Paige Rodgers and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Matt Genitempo & wife, Ada, Drew Genitempo & wife, Alexia, Wade Schlemmer & wife, Robin, Kristen Butler, Reid Rodgers and wife, Micaela, Blake Rodgers, great grandchildren Jace & Carolyn Butler.
Jeanine’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to those whose lives she touched.
