Jeanne T. Davis passed away Monday, May 3, 2021. A Graveside Service will be held at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, at a later date. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 8, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, Waco, Texas. Jeanne was born November 4, 1932, in San Antonio to Merrick Hector Truly and Mildred Lynch Truly. Jeanne graduated with a B.A. in Spanish and History from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While working in San Antonio, Jeanne met and married Tom, her husband of 61 years. Jeanne had many passions, including volunteer work, bridge and genealogy. Jeanne was a member of the Daughters of the United States Army, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Contract Bridge League. Jeanne was a Gold Life Master, a Certified Bridge Director, taught Bridge for several years and was Chairman of the Waco Bridge Club for 20 years. Her volunteer service included a 15-year service award for Volunteer Service to the American Red Cross and a service award from the International Red Cross, Geneva, Switzerland. Jeanne was an amateur genealogist. Jeanne published “The Truly Family” and “Hector and Sarah Holt Truly, Their Family from 1720-2004”. Jeanne had a life of travel due to military connections. As a child prior to WW II, Jeanne was evacuated from the Philippines Islands. Overseas tours included Manilla, Philippines, Panama Canal Zone, France and Germany. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Davis; and her brother, Merrick Truly. Jeanne is survived by her children, Cynthia L. Davis of Dallas, Thomas M. and Sherrie’ Davis of Waxahachie, Stephen A. Davis of Midlothian and Philip L. and Rose Davis of Sugarland; three granddaughters, Sara Flora and her husband, Nick, Rachel Auclair and her husband, Lyndon, and Morgan Sanders and her husband, Layne.
