Jerome Jerry Raymond Fette, Sr. September 3, 1931 - August 18, 2009 Jerome Jerry Raymond Fette, Sr. of Woodway passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, with Father Brion Zarsky as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. and visitation will begin at 6:30, Friday, August 21, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Jerry was born September 3, 1931 in Gainesville, Texas, to Henry and Laura Fette. He grew up in Muenster, TX, and graduated from Subiaco Academy in Subiaco, Arkansas, a Catholic College Preparatory High School, in 1949. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He spent 18 months in the Korean Conflict as a staff sergeant and instructor. In November 1955, he joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in the Drivers License Division, and had a schedule that took him to the five counties surrounding McLennan County. He retired with 30 years of service in 1981. In 1982, Jerry joined the Texas Farmers Union Insurance and later the Farmers Group Insurance. After 10 years, he worked in crop insurance for Rain and Hail Company from Amarillo with his office being in Waco. In 1958, he married Laurel D. McKee, and they had one son, Jerome Jerry Raymond Fette, Jr. Jerry was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he once served as Deputy Grand Knight and later 1976-77 as Grand Knight; and a life member of the 4th Degree. He helped sponsor four main activities: youth, community, church and council. He also served that same year as a board member of K.C. Pee Wee Football Team. He was preceded in death by his parents, his five brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Laurel; his son, Jerry Fette, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
