JERRY GUFFEY Jerry L. Guffey, 53, of Waco, died Saturday, June 29, 2002. Funeral services will be 11:30am, Tuesday, July 2 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Robbie Robinson officiating. Entombment will follow at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm, Monday at the funeral home. Jerry L. Guffey was born June 20, 1949 in Ada, Oklahoma. A caring and loving husband, father and grandfather, he passed away at his residence after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Guffey, step-father Alvin Abbott and his grandparents. Mr. Guffey was employed by Akzo Nobel, formerly ScanRoad, formerly Slurry Seal for 30 years. He enjoyed sports and was known as Coach Guffey. He helped found the Waco Boxing Club. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carmen Guffey; his daughter Elizabeth Guffey-Shumate and husband Mark of Tampa, Florida; sons, Jerry L. Guffey, Jr. and wife Lisa, John A. Guffey and wife Sara, and Jay C. Guffey all of Waco; mother, Cloketa Gregory Abbott of Houston; sister Cloetta Hayes and husband John of Ada, Oklahoma; brothers, Ross Abbott of Houston and Carl Abbott of Waco; granddaughters, Ashley, Brittney and Courtney Shumate, Callee and Katie Guffey and Maghan and Madison Guffey; and a host of relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Gilbert Sanchez, Jr., Michael Lerma, Gary Brown, Jimmy Jenning, Jr., Leonard Estrada, and Albert Pecina. An honorary pallbearer is Kelly Teakell.
