Jerry Wayne Dodd, 81, passed from this life May 5, 2022, at Baylor, Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. A memorial service will be held June 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. A reception will follow immediately in the Garden Room. Jerry was born February 25, 1941, at Waco’s original Hillcrest Hospital to Harry and Hestha Wendt Dodd. He was the oldest of three children. Jerry was educated in Waco ISD, graduated in 1959 from Waco High School. He attended Sam Houston State and Baylor Universities. He was united in marriage to Richard Wayne Bellows on March 27, 2015. Jerry had many professional careers with several corporations, gaining experience along the way resulting in the establishment of his own companies, Dofall’s Dwarfs and Dofall’s Construction. Jerry served his country in the U.S. Air National Guard for six years, earning the rank of sergeant (E5). Jerry loved to travel abroad, visiting many European countries, by land and sea. He grew up in the First Methodist Church, Waco. Jerry was well respected for his dedication to Alcoholics Anonymous, having established three separate groups in Waco. He celebrated 26 years of sobriety with his home group, Experience, Strength, and Hope. Jerry was an enthusiastic sponsor for many men struggling with addiction. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Hestha Wendt Dodd; son, Michael Wayne Dodd; and brother, Thomas Harry Dodd. He is survived by his husband, Richard Wayne Bellows; daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Otis and husband, Jim; sister, Kathy Holloway; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mackens and Rachael Sampels; and great-grandchildren Holly, Hudson, and Vivian. Memorials may be made to Experience, Strength, and Hope, in c/o Experience, Strength, and Hope, 9033 Cherry Creek Place, Woodway, TX 76712. Jerry was larger than life, loved by many and is missed dearly.
