Jesse Green

July 3, 1914 — February 2, 2007

Jessie B. Schmoyer “Dink” Green passed away Friday, February 2, 2007. Services will be at 2:30 pm Monday, February 5, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Dr. Scott Walker and Rev. John Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 2 to 4 pm Sunday, February 4 at the funeral home. Mrs. Green was born July 3, 1914 to Jesse Bertan and Florence Elizabeth Fannin Schmoyer in Travis, Falls County, Texas and moved to Waco as a child. She attended Waco schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1932 and thereafter attended Baylor University. Mrs. Green was a secretary at Hq 12th Air Force before its move to Bergstrom AFB in 1968, at which time she went to Wiesbaden, Germany, as secretary for the United States Air Forces in Europe from 1968 to 1972. On her return, she worked at Bergstrom a short time before moving back to Waco and becoming secretary to the Director at the VA Medical Center. She concluded her civil service after 32 years and became secretary to Mr. Champe Fitzhugh, owner of Fitzhugh & Company Insurance Agency. Mrs. Green was a Sunday School Teacher all of her life and an active member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Baylor University Senior Choir for many years. Dink was also a faithful contributor of her time and energy to serving others at the Gospel Café and the Salvation Army. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Craven Green. Mrs. Green is survived by two sons, Robert B. Green and Craven E. Green and wife, Nancy; four grandchildren, David Green and wife, Emily, of Dallas, Patrick Green and wife, Kori, of Fort Worth, Major George Wolfe and wife, Christie, of San Antonio and Brandon Wolfe of Phoenix, AZ; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Derden of Austin and Mrs. Mary Fox of Giddings.
