GREEN, JIMMIE V. Jimmie V. Green, 83 of Waco, died Sunday, October 3, 2004 at a local hospital. Services will be at 3:30pm Thursday, October 7 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel located on Bosque Blvd. with Dr. Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 7-9pm Wednesday, October 6 at the funeral home. Mr. Green was born December 20, 1920 near Wolfe City, Hunt County, Texas. He was the son of Howard C. and Ida Nell Baker Green. He attended a rural school and graduated from Bailey High School, Bailey, Texas in 1938. He participated in all sports, especially basketball. Mr. Green received an athletic scholarship to Paris Junior College and North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. Mr. Green served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946 as a Chief Specialist and Company Commander in the Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, Illinois. Later he was transferred to Okinawa. In February 1947, he married Madge V. Kincaid of Waukegan, Illinois. She was employed by the United States Navy at the Great Lakes Training Station, Great Lakes, Illinois. Mr. Green accepted a position as Assistant Athletic and Recreational Director at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Waco, where he was promoted to Recreation Director. Later he accepted a position with General Motors Acceptance Corporation where he worked for approximately twenty-four years. After retirement he enjoyed raising Black Angus cattle on their ranch near Lorena. He also worked for the Baylor Athletic Department at the Baylor Mariana and Recreation Center. Mr. Green was inducted into the Paris Junior College Dragon Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1939 basketball team. Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Madge Green; daughters, Peggy Glockzin and husband, Bill of Aransas Pass, Janet Tidwell and husband, Bob of Houston, and Joan Warren and husband, Bruce of Waco; son, Cliff Green and wife, Jayne of Houston; grandsons, Wes Glockzin, Chris Warren, Greg Green, and Blake Green, and granddaughter, Jessica Tidwell. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Wes Glockzin, Chris Warren, Greg Green, and Blake Green and sons-in-law, Bill Glockzin and Bruce Warren.
