Jo Anne Murray

Murray, Jo Anne Jo Anne Craig Murray, 79, passed away August 25, 2005 in a local hospital. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 27 at Unity Church of Greater Waco with Rev. Glenn Moore officiating. Mrs. Murray was born October 23, 1925 to Byron Hudson and Nora Ellen May Craig in Charleston, Illinois. She graduated from high school in Charleston and went on to Eastern Illinois University Teachers College in Charleston and taught for a short time at the University. She married Robert Lyndon Murray from Mattoon, IL in Paducah, Kentucky on August 1, 1948 and moved to Denver, Colorado where he was stationed with the Air Force. To this union was born four children. They were stationed in various bases throughout the US and in Spain and finally settled in Waco, Texas in 1972. At the age of 40, Jo Anne went back to college and got a double major. They always had a love for travel and continued after Robert’s retirement. She was an avid golfer and was an active member in the Heart of Texas Ladies Golf Association of Waco. Her creativity always led her into many endeavors. She owned and operated Castaway Creations out of her home, creating original jewelry for her customers. She was an active member for many years at Unity Church of Greater Waco. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert, of 57 years; daughters, Jo Ellen Kohl and husband, Danny and Virginia C. Higginbotham and husband, John; sons, Robert L. Murray, III and Michelle McClellan and Mark T. Murray and wife Donna; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and beloved pets Buddy and T. C.
