Joann Mayhew Gray

Joann Mayhew Gray, 82, of Waco passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., December 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery in Jonesboro, Texas. The family will receive visitors 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Joann was born November 1, 1937, to Bernard and Elsie Holt in Flat, Texas, where she grew up and went to school. She graduated in 1955 from Gatesville High School. Joann attended 4C Business College. She married and moved to Waco, where she worked as a secretary. Joann retired from TSTC College, where she worked in the marketing department. Her hobbies included planting flowers in her yard and sewing. She became a member of Beta Sigma Phi and had many friends with whom she loved to travel and get together. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy P. Mayhew; and her parents. Survivors include her son, Johnny P. Mayhew and wife, Monica; daughter, Janet L Lopez and husband, David; brother, Joyce Holt and wife, Carolyn; two grandchildren, Angie Hudson and husband, Keith, and Micah Mayhew; and two great grandchildren, Kaleb and Grace Hudson.
