Joanne Johnson Lemley, 86, passed away on June 23, 2022 at The Delaney on Lake Waco. Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, at Crossroads Fellowship Church with Irena Vlajnic officiating. Burial will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Born and raised in the sunny panhandle town of Claude, Texas, Joanne met and married Otis Lemley, an airman from Huntsville, Alabama, in 1954. Together they raised three children, all born in Amarillo. She cultivated a nurturing household despite tight budgets in several locations before settling in southwest Fort Worth for 47 years. In 2019, she and Otis transitioned to The Delaney on Lake Waco. He preceded her in death earlier this year. The joys of her life were her Lord Jesus Christ, her best friend and husband Otis, her children and their families, and her neighbors. She greeted everyone with the phrase “I love you!”. Survivors include three children, Rebecca Sparks of Salado, Bob Lemley and wife, Sylvia, of Waco, Randall Lemley and wife, Melanie, of Arlington; grandchildren Chris Lemley and wife, Megan, of Temple, Carlton Lemley and wife, Abigail, of Dehradun, India, Sky Sparks of Harker Heights, Rand Lemley and wife, Tina, of Boston, MA, Reign Sparks of Salado, Ian Lemley of Lakewood, CO, Tess Williams and husband, Jonathan, of Chattaroy, WA, and Calvin Lemley and wife, Janelle, of Milwaukee, WI; and three delightful great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Fort Worth Hope Center and Union Gospel Mission of Fort Worth. The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
