Jodye Elmo Jones January 6, 1926 - October 16, 2012 Jodye Jones, former resident of Waco and Lubbock, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 27, at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin 9:30 a.m., Saturday, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, prior to the graveside service. Jodye was born January 6, 1926, in Littlefield, TX, to Otto and Lena Jones. He graduated from Littlefield High School and Baylor University. He served two years in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On June 18, 1949, Jodye and Frances Overby were married. He was a deacon in the Baptist church, and volunteered at the Lubbock State School. While living in the Houston area, he attended Woodlands Church. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Jones; and sons, Gary, Larry and Steven Jones. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Murphree and husband, Jerry, and Beverly Johnson; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a number of treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family requests that memorials may be made to the Lubbock State School, 3401 University Avenue, Lubbock, TX 79408.
