FISHER, JR., JOHN B John B Fisher, Jr., age 88, of Waco died Sunday May 18, 2003 at a local hospital. Services will be at 10am Wednesday, May 21 at First Baptist Church of Waco with Dr. Scott Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Fisher was born April 29, 1915 in Waco to John B and Eula Berly Fisher. He married Constance Muehlberger February 20, 1945 in Austin. He went to Waco schools, graduating from Waco High in 1932 and Baylor in 1938 with honors and LLB degree. He enlisted in the army in September in 1942. He was sent to Fort Sam Houston reception center and on September 16, 1942 assigned to the investigations branch OPMG, 8th Service Command, served as a special agent in the organization until January, 1944 when it was merged with the counter intelligence corps. There after served as special agent security intelligence corps, security and intelligence division, 8th service command until February 2, 1946, when honorable discharge was given. Mr. Fisher received license to practice law in the state of Texas in May 1938. He entered practice in August, 1938 in Waco and continued until November, 1989 with the exception of the three one-half years in the US Army. He was a member of the state bar of the state of Texas from 1938, Waco McLennan County Bar Association 1938 and director 1947 and 1948, member American Bar Association from 1956-1979. He had been a member of First Baptist Church of Waco since March 24, 1926, was a deacon 1957, chairman of deacons 1964-1966, legal counsel for church 1952-1984 and served on many committees. While at Baylor University, he was a charter life member of Counsellors of the Baylor University Law School for 1970 and Baylor Bear Club Foundation. He was a member of the advisory board of the Salvation Army in Waco from 1952-1958 serving as the president of the board 1953-1954. He served as a member of the board of directors of the United Fund of Waco 1974-1977. He had been a member of the Baylor Masonic Lodge #1235 since 1936. He received a 60 year plaque in 1996. He was a member of the YMCA from 1926-80 serving as its president 1966 and 1967. He was a member of the board of directors of the Lake Air Little League Park, Inc. from 1958-1967 where he served as secretary-treasurer 1958-1962, vice-chairman 1962-1967 and general counsel 1958-1967. He served as president of Northwestern Little League of Waco in 1958. Mr. Fisher served as president of Heart of Texas Branch of Arthritis Foundation 1977-1979. Survivors include wife, Constance Muelberger Fisher of Waco; sons, John B Fisher, III and wife, Carolyn Hudson Fisher of Waco and David W. Fisher and wife, Cyndy Copus Fisher of Austin; grandchildren, Charlie Hays, Sam Hays and Ellan Hays all of Waco and Will Fisher, Matt Fisher and Caroline Fisher all of Austin; sister, Mary Lucile Powell of Waco and one niece and four nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Malcolm Louden, Joe Ward, Dr. Walter B. King, Jr., Leonard Gorin, Carl Barrett, Matt Dawson, Harry Trippet, Roane Lacy, Jesse Milam, and Dr. Tom Husbands.
